Q) Do I need to send a paper copy of the manifest along with my waste shipment when I use an electronic manifest?

A) Currently, it is common practice for generators/carriers to use the existing manifest form as shipping papers for their waste shipments. The use of electronic manifests does not eliminate the need for shipping papers, however, a single printed copy of the manifest from HWIN could be used instead of the multi-copy paper manifest form. Please note that manifests printed from HWIN will be printed in the current manifest format.
A printed electronic manifest form should only be used for shipping purposes. Generators, carriers and receivers should NOT use the printed e-manifest to sign. If a manifest is started electronically, it should be completed electronically by signing on-line at www.hwin.ca.
